Overview of Top 10 Suppliers of Ecuadorian White Shrimp Export to China (September 2024)

In September 2024, according to the latest Ecuadorian shrimp export data, Ecuador exported 54,700 tons of white shrimp to China that month, or about 2604 containers.  In this batch of exports, the top ten suppliers accounted for 71.72% of the market share, showing their dominant position in Ecuador's white shrimp exports to China. 

First, the leading supplier style 

INDUSTRIAL PESQUERA SANTA PRISCILA S.A. 

Export volume to China: 8275 tons, about 374 cabinets 

Proportion of total imports: 14.36% 

Ranking: First 

Santa Priscila, with its excellent product quality and stable supply, once again ranked first in Ecuador's white shrimp exports to China.  Its Golden Sea brand enjoys a high reputation in the China market thanks to its healthy breeding environment and strict quality control. 

SOCIEDAD NACIONAL DE GALÁPAGOS C.A. SONGA 

Export volume to China: 6832 tons, about 325 cabinets 

Proportion of total imports: 12.48% 

Rank: 2nd 

Songa has established itself in China and Korea under its South American Shrimp Emperor brand.  Its farm is located near Guayaquil, the shrimp capital of South America, with an area of 8000 hectares and is certified by BAP four stars throughout the year, ensuring traceability and high quality of its products. 

EXPALSA EXPORTADORA DE ALIMMENTOS S.A. 

Export volume to China: 5642 tons, about 268 cabinets 

Proportion of total imports: 10.29% 

Rank: 3rd 

As Ecuador's second largest shrimp company, Expalsa's products are also popular in the China market.  Despite the challenges of declining production, the company has managed to grow by expanding capacity, improving efficiency and sustainability.  Its trump shrimp products take the lead in sales volume on China online platform, becoming an important force for Ecuadorian white shrimp exports to China. 

II. Other excellent suppliers 

In addition to the top three suppliers, other excellent suppliers also play an important role in Ecuador's white shrimp exports to China.  CAMAR-EXPO S.A.、  DAVMERCORP S.A.、  Suppliers such as EXPORTQUILSA & PRODUCTORES ASOCIADOS S.A. ranked fourth to sixth with exports of 3564 tons, 3314 tons and 2856 tons respectively.  These suppliers have won wide recognition in the China market for their outstanding performance in product quality, breeding technology and supply chain management. 

III. Emerging Forces and Challenges 

It is worth noting that although Omarsa was once one of the main suppliers of Ecuadorian white shrimp to the China market, its exports have recently shrunk significantly.  In September 2024, the company exported only 800 tons of white shrimp to China, down 91 per cent from exports in the same period last year.  This change may be influenced by a variety of factors, including increased market competition, rising farming costs and supply chain adjustments.
