Ecuador shrimp industry new era, 2024 top ten shrimp enterprises list announced
Recently, Forbes magazine released the latest ranking of Ecuador's top ten shrimp companies, revealing the fierce competition and ranking changes among enterprises in this challenging background.
The top spot is solid: Pesquera Santa Priscila, which has held the top spot for several consecutive years, once again leads the pack with annual sales of more than $1.287 billion. Despite a slight decline of 3.28% compared with the previous year, its export volume is still as high as 472 million pounds, accounting for 21.2% of Ecuador's total industry exports. As one of the largest companies in Ecuador, Santa Priscila not only has a large team of more than 21,000 employees, but also stands firm in the global shrimp market with its stable quality and strong market influence.
The biggest highlight of this ranking is Songa's sudden emergence, jumping from third place last year to runner-up. With $609 million in sales and 256 million pounds in sales, Songa showcased the fruits of its massive expansion and acquisitions in recent years. Since its establishment in 1967, Songa has grown continuously and has now become the second largest shrimp exporter in Ecuador. The strategic vision and market layout behind it deserve deep consideration by the industry.

Exportquilsa focuses on shrimp production and has earned $162.4 million in exports for 15 years of market development; Empacri has been involved in aquaculture since 2007 and sold its products to more than 25 countries with sales exceeding $148.5 million;Empagran has been operating in Ecuador since 1975 and sold $140.9 million last year; and Cofimar, with more than 2,700 hectares of shrimp farms, ranks among the top 10 with sales of $136.8 million.
